A key component of our commitment to service the vision needs of Edmontonians for over 40 years is our location and extended hours of operation. We’re located inside the Londonderry Mall, at the corner of 66th Street and 137th Avenue. For your convenience, we are open late Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 9 PM, and Saturday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. On Sundays and holidays, our optical shop is open from 12 PM to 5 PM. Our full service clinic employs seven doctors ready to serve you, and our inventory includes over 4,000 frames from 50 brands.

Our extended hours are to help make your health care planning as easy as possible. In booking your eye exam, it is important to understand that the visual performance of our eyes varies slightly in the course of the day. Throughout the day a variety factors influence our physical condition, and this is also reflected in the way our eyes perform.

For example, the levels of hormones and sugar in our blood play a major role in determining the quality of our vision – having your eyes tested before breakfast or insufficient fluid intake beforehand may well influence the result. If you’ve been working all day at a computer before you go to your eye care professional, your eyes may be dry or fatigued, which may also influence the result of the eye test.

To help you find the best time of day, here are a few guidelines.

  • Always make an appointment with your eye care professional to ensure the time needed to obtain the required accuracy.
  • Take your current glasses, contact lenses and, if you have one, your lens certificate with you.
  • Try to be as rested and relaxed as possible when you go for your eye exam.
  • Never go on an empty stomach or when you’re thirsty.
  • Observe your own biorhythm, and make an appointment with your eye care professional at a time when you feel fit and rested.
  • Tell him or her if you are currently taking any medication, or have a chronic condition such as diabetes.

If you have any concerns, it is essential for you to communicate with the eye care professional and make sure time is taken for a proper exam. The more you tell your eye care professional, the better your new glasses will be. Call now to schedule an Edmonton eye appointment.
